Todd C. Swathwood, M.D.

Dr. Todd Swathwood joined Blue Ridge Orthopaedics in October, 2004. He received his B.A. in Chemistry from Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky in 1986. In 1991, he received his medical degree from The Bowman Gray School of Medicine, Wake Forest University. After completing internship, he went to Misawa, Japan with the Air Force where he served as a Flight Surgeon for the F-16 squadrons based there. In 2000, he graduated from the Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio. He served the last four years in the U.S. Air Force as a staff orthopaedic surgeon and Chief of Orthopaedics at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia. As part of his assignment at Langley, he led a team that was sent to the Philippines as a part of Operation Enduring Freedom, part of the Global War on Terrorism. While there, he and his team treated both military and civilian combat casualties.

He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
